Another day of searching and working. I feel I am starting to find her beautiful face, but I also feel something is missing. I think it is a bit boring. Good thing the cat is in there, but something else is maybe needed. But what? I guess I will be looking at the work and thinking for hours. A good part of the work is spent chewing and ruminating, waiting while the paint dries, going away, letting your eyes rest. All of a sudden you see it with fresh eyes, or you wake up in the morning with an idea. The time it takes to make a painting is hard to define. Doing the actual paint work is only a portion.

Another day of searching and working. I feel I am building up the person, I can now recognize her beautiful face… but…? I am glad the cat is in the picture, makes it more interesting. But it seems like something else is needed… but WHAT? I guess I will be spending hours just to look and think. Sometimes people ask me how long it takes to make a painting. It is a hard question to answer, because the time spent doing the actual painting is only a small part of it. Time is spent agonizing over it while paint is drying, time is spent chewing and ruminating, wondering what to do. Letting it rest, seeing it with fresh eyes next day… and so on. So I am going to let this rest for a while.
